T-Shirt Skirt

I'm on a roll!  I made another skirt for the kiddo.

This started its life out as a very pretty blue shirt.
Tip your head sideways and you can see what it looked like :)

I cut it off right under the arms.  I decided to flip it upside down so that the darker part was on top (but yet I didn't photograph it that way. . . )

I used elastic thread in my bobbin and sewed around the new top five times.  Using the elastic thread shirred the fabric creating a waistband.  There are some great tutorials about shirring. . . make sure to use one that addresses your specific machine.  All machines are not made equally!

I then trimmed off the existing hem.

I decided to leave the bottom hem raw.  It's a cotton shirt so it sort of "lettuces".

I did take it in on the sides and gather each side.  I would love to say it was on purpose but it was one of those happy accidents.

Here's the cutie wearing the creation!

This is a roaming around the house and neighborhood skirt.  It's a little too tight for my taste but it's oh, so comfortable!!!

If I do it again:

I would take it in a little bit before shirring.  It is a lot harder to take it in after!
